Wedding Dress Styles

There are many different wedding dress styles and it is very important that you choose the right wedding dress style for your shape.  You will want to choose a wedding dress style that fits your body perfectly and will flatter your figure, so that you can look your best on your wedding day.

There are four types of basic wedding dress styles that are chosen by brides over and over again and it would be a good idea to try one of each style in order to establish which you like best and, most importantly, which of them most flatters your shape most.

When it comes to wedding dress styles the ballgown type has always been popular with brides.  It is the most traditional of all the wedding gowns and never seems to go out of fashion.  It has a fitted bodice and waistline and a very full balloon skirt.  This is a great wedding dress style if you are planning to have a traditional style wedding.

The Empire look is timeless.  It has a high waistline, is fitted under the bust and it falls down to a slim, straight skirt.  This wedding dress style is great for showing off your clevage and the slim skirt shows off your figure to full advantage.  Think Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice.  This type of wedding dress it suitable for both traditional and modern look weddings.

The A-line look is also a popular choice.  This type of wedding dress has vertical lines flowing from the shoulders downwards.  This shape is very flattering to a variety of figures which explains its popularity.  It would work well at traditional or more contemporary style weddings.

If you are very confident about your body shape you might want to consider the sheath dress.  This style of dress fits very close to the body and the line of the dress will follow the line of the body and fit closely.  This style is probably better suited to modern than traditional weddings.

Deciding on wedding dress styles can be a real headache, because you want to look absolutely perfect on your big day.  The most important thing is to feel comfortable in the wedding dress you choose.  Whether the dress fits you well and is suited to your body shape is much more important than choosing the latest or most popular style.  Remember that you will be spending most of the day in the dress and that lots of photos will be taken of you.

When you try on wedding dresses remember that you won't be standing still all day.  Move around in the dress to see how it feels, maybe try out a few dance steps to see whether it will flow easily or whether it feels restricted.  The most important thing to remember when considsering wedding dress styles is that you want to feel comfortable on your big day.
